The Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue signs MoU with the Geneva Academy

27 December 2018, GENEVA - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue – an international think tank holding special consultative status with the United Nations – and the Geneva Academy for Peace & Mediation.

The agreement was signed on 18 December by the Geneva Centre’s Executive Director Ambassador Idriss Jazairy and the Founder and Director of the Geneva Academy for Peace & Mediation Mrs. Sibylle Rupprecht.

The signature ceremony was held at the premises of the Geneva Centre in the presence of the staff of the Centre.

The Memorandum of Understanding lays the foundation for a collaborative partnership between both Centres in the holding of joint panel debates at the United Nations Office in Geneva on issues related to the promotion of intercultural and interreligious dialogue as well as the the enhancement of peace around the world.

The agreement also commits the parties to arrange and organize joint training programmes in relation to the promotion of human rights, peace and sustainable development in the Middle East and the North Africa region.

The partnership between the Geneva Centre and the Geneva Academy for Peace & Mediation marks a step forward in the development of both Centres’ ambitions to promote a value-driven human rights system as well as cooperative relations between peoples and societies through peace education in recognition of the fact that human rights advancement is a gateway to peace.

At the meeting preceding the signing ceremony, Amb. Idriss Jazairy agreed to join the Advisory Board of the Geneva Academy for Peace & Mediation thus reinforcing the ties between the two organisations.

Both look forward to holding the first series of training courses in Peace Education and Human Rights.
